A scenario can now tell Aide which knowledge to answer from. Add "Answer only from these sources" to a scenario, pick one or more knowledge sources, and when the scenario matches a conversation Aide looks for its answer only in those sources. One store's questions can be answered from that brand's help center, a wholesale inbox from the wholesale guide, without the other sources getting in the way.
How it behaves
- Narrowing, not adding: the sources limit where Aide looks. Aide still answers in its usual way and follows the scenario's other actions and instructions.
- Several scenarios at once: when more than one matching scenario picks sources, Aide looks in all the sources they picked together.
- Agents limited to some sources: an agent that only answers from certain sources keeps that limit. With a scenario's sources, it answers from the sources both share: if the agent answers from your help center and your articles and the scenario picks the help center and a product guide, it answers from the help center.
- When they share none: if an agent answers from none of the scenario's sources, the scenario's sources are ignored for that agent and it answers from its usual knowledge. Aide never hands a conversation off because a scenario's sources and an agent's don't overlap.
- Copilot drafts follow the same rule: a Copilot draft for a matching conversation looks only in the scenario's sources, within the sources Copilot answers from, and falls back to Copilot's own sources when they share none.
- A warning when you save: under the sources, the scenario editor names each agent that doesn't answer from some of them and says what happens, for example "Support Bot doesn't answer from Product guide, so here it answers only from Help center", or that the scenario's sources are ignored for that agent. A scenario that isn't limited to one agent is checked against every agent. The warning shows once you save and whenever you open the scenario; it hides while you change the sources, until you save again.
- One per scenario: a scenario has at most one "Answer only from these sources" action, with up to 20 sources. The editor stops offering the action once a scenario has it.
- Deleting a source: removes it from every scenario that picked it. A scenario left with no sources goes back to the agent's usual knowledge.
Also in this change
- A scenario that escalates with a hand-off message now hands off before Aide searches your knowledge, so the hand-off is a little faster.
For developers
/v1/scenariosaccepts an action{ type: 'KNOWLEDGE_SETS', knowledgeSourceIds: [...] }with 1 to 20 knowledge source ids. An unknown source, another workspace's source, or a secondKNOWLEDGE_SETSaction in the same scenario answers 422.- Scenario actions gain
knowledgeSources:[{ id, name }]on aKNOWLEDGE_SETSaction, null on the others. - The scenario detail, create and update responses gain
knowledgeConflicts:[{ agent: { id, name }, outsideSourceIds, ignored }], one per agent that doesn't answer from some of the scenario's sources.outsideSourceIdslists those sources;ignoredis true when the agent answers from none of them, so the scenario's sources are ignored for it.
