Changelog

Aide inside your Shopify admin

Aide now opens inside the Shopify admin. Merchants can install it, get started, check how it's doing and change the settings they reach for most without leaving Shopify, and one click takes them into the full Aide dashboard already signed in, on the page they asked for.

How it behaves

  • Getting started: a merchant opening Aide for the first time selects Get started, and Aide creates a workspace for the store, signed in as them. No separate sign-up or password. Updated 2026-10-19: the workspace is ready to use straight away. Links from Shopify into the Aide dashboard open the page they point to instead of asking the merchant to fill in company details first, and the store's website becomes the workspace's website.
  • Welcome email: the merchant gets "Your Aide workspace for {store} is ready" with a link to the dashboard and, if they have no Aide password yet, a link to set one that works once within 24 hours. That is their way into Aide outside Shopify. (Added 2026-10-19.)
  • Learning the store's help content: when a store connects, from the Shopify admin or from the dashboard, Aide starts reading the storefront's pages (shipping, returns, FAQ) as a website knowledge source, only when products are all the workspace knows so far: a workspace with a help center, articles, macros or a website keeps its knowledge as it is. Products sync on their own as before. (Added 2026-10-19.)
  • Already an Aide customer: if the merchant's email is a member of an Aide workspace, Aide offers to connect the store to it, keeping conversations, knowledge and settings together, or to start a separate workspace for the store.
  • Store connected to someone else's workspace: Aide explains that the store belongs to another workspace and asks the merchant to get an invite from its owner or disconnect it there first.
  • Other staff on the store: staff whose Shopify login is already linked to a teammate in the workspace go straight in. Others see Link your Aide login, sign in to Aide once, and are remembered from then on. Someone without an Aide login is asked to get an invite from an owner or admin.
  • Home:
    • A setup guide: turn on chat in the theme (with a link straight to the theme editor), add help content, turn on AI replies, try Aide on the store, and add order help to customer accounts. Steps tick themselves off, and the guide can be dismissed. Updated 2026-10-19:
      • Help content is done only once Aide has pages from the store's website or help center; products alone don't count. While the website imports, the step shows how many pages Aide has read so far, and a failed import offers Import again.
      • Turn on AI replies switches them on right there, without going to Settings, and says what went wrong if it can't.
      • Try Aide on your store opens the storefront in a new tab with chat open. The step ticks itself off once chat has opened on the store, checked again whenever the merchant comes back to the Shopify admin.
      • Order help is done only when chat is on in the theme, since its button opens Aide chat, and reminds the merchant it works with new customer accounts.
    • Last 30 days: conversations, AI resolution rate, sales from Aide chats and sales after a chat.
    • The five most recent conversations, each opening in the Aide inbox.
    • A banner when something needs attention: AI replies are paused, the store needs reconnecting, chat is turned off, AI replies are off (added 2026-10-19, with a button to turn them on), or chat isn't on the storefront yet. When AI replies are paused on a store billed through Shopify, the banner's button opens Shopify's plan page.
  • Settings:
    • Connection: the store, its workspace and the other connected channels, with Disconnect. Updated 2026-10-19: also how many products and orders Aide has synced from the store (or how far a sync has got), and a note when sales tracking isn't connected yet.
    • Knowledge sources: Add a website starts with the store's address filled in.
    • Chat on the storefront: show or hide chat, the theme embed's status, what happens outside business hours, whether to ask shoppers for their email, and chat transcripts.
    • Appearance: store and assistant names, brand colour, launcher position, icon and label, with a live preview. Customize in Aide opens the full appearance settings.
    • Also: campaigns, contact options, AI replies, the merchant's own notifications, knowledge sources, and plan and usage.
  • Saving: changes wait in Shopify's save bar until the merchant saves or discards them, like any Shopify settings page.
  • Going to Aide: links such as View all, Manage channels in Aide and Edit instructions in Aide open the dashboard in a new tab, already signed in to the right workspace.
  • Dates and numbers: analytics follow the store's timezone, and sales show in the store's currencies.

Also in this change

  • Opening a sign-in link from Shopify that has expired, or belongs to someone who isn't a member of the workspace, shows a clear page in the dashboard explaining what to do.
  • (2026-10-19) The dashboard's Shopify page shows each store's product and order sync beside it, and the Home action to connect Shopify now reads Connect your store.
  • (2026-10-19) When the dashboard sends a new account to its first-run questions, it returns to the page that was opened once they're answered.
  • (2026-10-19) Get started explains the reason when Aide can't create the workspace, for example an email address Shopify hasn't verified.

For developers

  • (2026-10-19) GET /v1/integrations/:id gains sync (a Shopify store's product and order sync: status, phase, products, orders, startedAt, updatedAt, or null) and webPixelConnected (null for other integrations).

  • (2026-10-19) GET /v1/integrations/:id/storefront-embed gains storefrontUrl, the store's home page on its primary domain.

  • POST /v1/session/handoffs creates a short-lived link that signs the current user in to the dashboard; POST /v1/session/handoffs/redeem exchanges it for a session.

  • POST /v1/session/shopify-links links the signed-in Aide user to a Shopify staff login.
