When a shopper chats from a product page, Aide now knows the product and the option they picked. "Does this come in blue?" or "is it in stock in a medium?" gets an answer about that product, without the shopper having to name it. Your team sees the same product in the inbox.
How it behaves
- In the chat: on a product page, "this" and "it" mean the product on the page. Aide answers from that product's details in your catalogue, and says so when they don't cover the question. It doesn't suggest the product the shopper is already looking at as a recommendation.
- The option they picked: when the shopper has chosen a color or size on the page, Aide knows which one, so stock and price answers are about that option.
- In the inbox: a "Currently viewing" section in the conversation's details shows the product, the chosen option, its price and stock, with a link to the page. It reflects the page the shopper's latest message came from, and disappears when they write from a page that isn't a product.
- Other pages: off a product page nothing changes; Aide answers as before.
- Setup: nothing to do for Shopify stores using Aide's chat app embed. Products need to be synced from Shopify, and an agent limited to certain knowledge sources only answers from the product's details when your product catalogue is one of them.
For developers
- Widget messages (
POST /widget/conversations,POST /widget/conversations/{id}/messages) accept an optionalpage(url, title) andsessionData. The widget sends both automatically;sessionDatais what the host page set withAide('setSessionData', …), which now reaches the conversation. GET /v1/conversations/{id}/ordershas a newviewingfield, ornull: theproductthe shopper's latest message was sent from (id,title, url, adminUrl,image, currency, priceRange, availability), the selectedvariant(options, price, stockStatus, inventoryQuantity, …),pageUrlandseenAt.- The Shopify app embed sets
shopify_product_idandshopify_variant_idsession data on product pages.
