Changelog

Orders after a chat are credited to Aide, with the shopper's consent

Aide now notices when a shopper chats and then buys, even if they didn't add the product from a chat card. It does this with a Shopify customer events pixel that respects the store's cookie banner, so it only runs for shoppers who accepted analytics.

How it behaves

  • Shopper chats, then checks out: the order is linked to that shopper's latest Aide conversation from the 30 days before the purchase, as a "view-through" order.
  • Shopper added to cart from an Aide chat card: nothing changes. The order is still credited through the cart, as a "click-through" order, and that link takes priority.
  • Shopper declined analytics cookies: Shopify doesn't run the pixel and nothing is sent.
  • No chat in the last 30 days, or the chat was on another store's Aide workspace: the order isn't credited.
  • What's sent: only the store, the order number and an anonymous chat visitor id. No names, emails, cart contents or prices leave the checkout.
  • Where to see it: Shopify lists "Aide attribution" under Settings > Customer events once the pixel is on. In Analytics, "Sales from Aide chats" keeps its main numbers for click-through orders and adds a line under them for view-through orders ("+3 orders after a chat, without Aide's cart", and the same for revenue). The section also shows for a store that only has view-through orders.
  • Never counted twice: an order credited through the cart is only ever a click-through order, even if the pixel reported it too. View-through orders follow the same rules: counted on the day they were placed, per currency, cancelled orders left out, and the channel and topic filters apply to the chat.
  • Stores already connected: Shopify asks the merchant to approve two new permissions (customer events). The pixel is switched on when the store connects to Aide, and for stores that connected earlier, as soon as the merchant approves them and opens Aide in their Shopify admin, or otherwise within a day, the next time Aide syncs an order, product or customer from the store. Until they approve, nothing changes for that store.

For developers

  • The Shopify app requests two new scopes, write_pixels and read_customer_events.
  • GET /v1/analytics/overview has a new sales.viewThrough field, with the same shape as sales: orders (value, previous) and revenue, a list of { currency, value, previous }.
  • node ace shopify:ensure-pixels queues the pixel for every connected Shopify store (the EnsureShopifyWebPixel job). Stores that haven't approved write_pixels are skipped and logged once per run at info level; running it again is safe.
