Changelog

Sign in and sign up with Google

The login, sign-up and invite pages now have a "Continue with Google" button. One click signs you in with your Google account, with no password to remember.

How it behaves

  • New to Aide: Continue with Google creates your account and a workspace from your Google name and email, then starts the usual setup.
  • Invited by a teammate: Continue with Google on the invite page joins their workspace. The Google account's email must match the email the invite was sent to.
  • Already have a password account: if Google has verified that email address, your Google account is linked to your existing Aide account and you land in your workspace. Your password keeps working.
  • Signed up with Google, want a password too: use "Forgot password?" on the login page to set one.
  • Unverified Google email: sign-in is refused; use email and password instead.
  • Deleted accounts can't sign in with Google, the same as with a password.
  • Cancelled on Google's screen, or took too long: you're told so and can start again. A sign-in must be finished in the browser tab that started it.
  • Panel sign-in: signing in with Google from a helpdesk panel's login hands the session back to the panel, like email and password.

For developers

  • GET /v1/session/providers reports which sign-in providers are available ({ object: "session_providers", google }).
  • POST /v1/session/google/authorizations (optional inviteCode) returns Google's authorize URL; POST /v1/session/google with the code and state Google returns answers with the same access_token as POST /v1/session. New error codes: google_signin_unavailable (503), invalid_state, google_email_unverified, google_sign_in_failed, google_account_conflict (409, the email's account is linked to a different Google account).
