Final sale return response

Explain final sale without sounding cold.

Quote the line from your policy that was shown at checkout, and make it clear damaged or wrong items are still covered.Updated · By Ziyad Basheer

Short answer

A final sale item cannot be returned or exchanged for a change of mind, which the store states before purchase. Quote that line from your policy, and say plainly that items arriving damaged, faulty or wrong are still covered.

Subject: About your final sale item from order.name
Hi customer.first_name, Thanks for getting in touch. The item on order.name was marked final sale, which means it cannot be returned or exchanged. That was noted on the product page and at checkout. I am sorry it was not the right fit. If it arrived damaged or is not what you ordered, final sale does not apply: reply with a photo and our team will put it right.

The item was a final sale purchase, so our policy does not allow returns or exchanges on it. If it arrived damaged or wrong, that is different: send me a photo and our team will sort it out.

Example conversation

Customer
I bought the candle set on clearance with #1066 and the scent is too strong. Can I send it back?
Aide
I am sorry the scent is not for you. The candle set on #1066 was a final sale item, which our policy says cannot be returned or exchanged. If it had arrived damaged, that would be different, so let me know if anything is wrong with it.
Customer
No, it is fine. Thanks for explaining.
