Aide knows which collection your shopper is browsing

When a shopper chats from a collection page, Aide now knows the collection. "Which of these is best for beginners?" or "do you have one of these in a larger size?" gets an answer from the products in that collection, without the shopper having to name them. Your team sees the collection in the inbox.

How it behaves

  • In the chat: on a collection page, "these", "this collection" and comparisons that name no product mean products in that collection. Aide answers from the details of up to six of them, picking the ones that best match the question, and can show them as product cards. It still only states what the product details say, and says so when they don't cover the question.
  • Big collections: when a collection has more products than Aide looked at, it says it looked at some of them and asks what the shopper is after if that matters.
  • Product pages win: on a product page, including one opened from a collection, "this" is the product on the page, as before.
  • In the inbox: the "Currently viewing" section shows "Browsing collection" with the collection's name and a link to the page. It reflects the page the shopper's latest message came from.
  • Store languages and markets: collection pages under a language or market path (such as /en-ca/collections/…) work the same way.
  • Other pages: off a collection or product page nothing changes.
  • Setup: nothing to do for Shopify stores using Aide's chat app embed. Products need to be synced from Shopify; only products that are on sale count, and an agent limited to certain knowledge sources only answers from them when your product catalogue is one of them.

For developers

  • GET /v1/conversations/{id}/orders has a new viewingCollection field, or null: the collection page the shopper's latest message was sent from (collection.title, collection.productsCount), with pageUrl and seenAt. It is null whenever viewing (a product page) is set.
  • The Shopify app embed sets shopify_collection_id session data on collection pages and clears it on product pages; on collection pages it clears shopify_product_id and shopify_variant_id.
