When a shopper chats from your Shopify store, your team now sees what's in their cart right now: products, options, quantities and the total. It updates as they add or remove items, without the shopper having to send another message, so you can help them check out instead of asking.
How it behaves
- In the inbox: a "Cart" section in the conversation's details, under "Currently viewing", lists each item with its picture, option, quantity and price, the number of items, the cart total, and when the cart last changed. Items link to their product page.
- Live updates: when the shopper adds, removes or changes an item, the section updates within a couple of seconds while the conversation is open in the inbox. Carts changed in another tab show up when the shopper comes back to the store's tab.
- One cart per shopper: a shopper has one cart however many conversations they have open, so every open conversation from them shows the same, current cart. A closed conversation keeps the cart as it was when it closed; if the shopper writes again, it shows the live cart again. When a shopper signs in, the cart they had before signing in comes with them. A signed-in shopper using several devices shows the cart they changed most recently.
- Aide knows it too: Aide sees the same cart when it answers, so "what's in my cart?", "did I add the right size?" or "what's my total?" get a direct answer. Aide doesn't change the cart: it tells the shopper how to. It doesn't work out discounts, shipping or taxes from the cart.
- Empty cart: the section is hidden while the cart is empty, including after the shopper empties it.
- Products not in your catalogue: items Aide can't match to a synced product still show, with the name and price from the store, but without a picture or link.
- Where it works: only on your store's own site, once the shopper has started a conversation and opened the chat on that visit. Off your storefront, nothing is read or sent.
- Setup: nothing to do for Shopify stores using Aide's chat app embed. Products need to be synced from Shopify for pictures and links.
