Your inbox is ready as soon as Aide Chat is

Workspaces that only use Aide Chat now see their inbox, Topics and Scenarios straight away, with a pointer to install the widget, instead of a "connect a ticket source" wall that asked for a helpdesk they don't have.

How it behaves

  • Nothing connected yet: Conversations, Topics and Scenarios ask you to connect a helpdesk or add Aide Chat to your website, with a button for each. Aide Chat's button opens its Installation tab with the snippet.
  • Aide Chat set up, but not on a site yet: the inbox opens as usual, empty, with "Your first chat will appear here" and a button to add Aide Chat to your website or store.
  • Aide Chat seen on your site: once the widget has opened on a page, the empty inbox says where it is live, for example "Aide Chat is live on shop.example.com", so you know it is installed and conversations will arrive.
  • Conversations arriving: the inbox works exactly as before; the first chat replaces the message.
  • Topics and Scenarios: with any channel connected (Aide Chat, email, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or a helpdesk), both pages open normally and fill in as conversations come in.
  • Widgets installed before this change show as live from the first visitor who opens them after it.

For developers

  • GET /v1/me flags gains three fields: hasChannel (an enabled inbox on a connected channel), widgetFirstSeenAt (ISO timestamp or null) and widgetFirstSeenOrigin (the first site the widget opened a visitor session on, as scheme://host[:port], or null).
