Short answer
An order status page is the page a customer reaches after checkout, and later from their confirmation and shipping emails, that shows the current state of their order: confirmed, shipped, out for delivery or delivered. On Shopify it is the thank-you page right after purchase and the same page reopened later as the order progresses. The page usually shows the items, the shipping address, the payment summary and, once fulfilled, a tracking link for each package. Stores can add content through apps and checkout extensions: delivery estimates, upsells, surveys, or a way to get help. Customers with a store account also see their orders listed in the account area.
It is the first place most customers check before contacting support, which makes it the best place to answer questions before they become tickets. It is also where they get stuck. The page says "shipped" but the tracking link has not updated in three days. The page shows one package, but order #1059 had two. The customer wants to change the address and the page has no button for it. Each of these turns into an email that starts with "your order page says..."
The common approach is to treat the page as a receipt and send every question to a contact form. That forces the customer to leave the one page that already knows which order they mean.
What customers look for on the order status page
| They want | What answers it |
|---|---|
| Is it shipped yet? | fulfillment status and date |
| Where is it now? | current tracking for every package |
| Can I change something? | a way to ask while it is still possible |
| Who do I talk to? | help that already knows the order |
Aide Chat can sit on the Shopify thank-you page on every plan, so a shopper can ask about the order they just placed without retyping it. Customers who open an order in their Shopify account can tap "Get help with this order" and land in a chat that already has it loaded. From there, Aide checks the order's current state and its parcels, and for a verified shopper it can change the address or cancel, as far as the team's settings allow. See how Aide Chat works on the storefront and after checkout.
